Modern Captain's Desk
Modern Captain's Desk
On commercial vessels of old, captains would change ships regularly. For ease of moving, and because even captains' quarters were tight spaces, they would usually keep their belongings in one or two stackable trunks, with an additional one fitted out as a desk. The doors of these trunks opened to the front, with the desk door serving as a writing surface.
This beautiful piece of furniture comprises three boxes that can be stacked, or not, according to the constraints of the room it's in. The cabinets are made of cherry, finished with marine varnish. The door fronts are hand cut and leaded stained glass. Handles are brass. Each section measures 32" x 16" x 16".
